100th International Women’s Day Event

Equal Rights, Equal Opportunities: Progress for all

Fair Trade Group Nepal is joining hands with Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry’ s Women Entrepreneurship Development Committee (FNCCI-WEDC) and Federation of Women Entrepreneurs’ Association (FWEAN) in organizing a three day Mega Event from 8-10 March 2010 in Kathmandu Nepal on the occasion of 100th International Women’s Day being celebrated with a theme of Equal rights, Equal opportunities: Progress for all.

The event focuses and priorities on promotion of trade equity of women producers, namely women of marginalized communities. This being the first collaborative intervention of the partners, is also a step in promotion of Fair Trade in the interest of women producers. The mega event will bring together women entrepreneurs and activists from SAARC and other countries from south east Asia, participating in the International Women SMEs Business Meet. The Meet largely consists of International SME Trade Fair and Skill Exchange Workshops between different artisans from the South and East Asian Countries.

The meet will also include Interaction Program with an inspirational role model personality with outstanding contribution and experience of activism for women’s human rights. We are also sending out extensively invitations to international buyers. The meet will conclude with a SAARC Level Women Entrepreneurs’ Kathmandu Joint Declaration. We anticipate this event will provide platform to build market linkages of marginalized producers, share skills, build partnerships, trading opportunities and outsource resources.
